Summer is always more fun with grandchildren! Chasing lightening bugs (or fireflies, depending on where you live), hearing the peepers in the creek across the road and then enjoy seeing the little frogs that come from those peepers, churning homemade ice cream on hot summer days, fresh corn and other veggies from our local farmers, cooking with our granddaughter, sprinklers and swimming, laying in the fresh cut grass and looking up at the stars are just a few of our family’s favorite summer activities! We are so blessed!

I feel like I’ve watch all of you grow up. I myself, as a kid, enjoyed summertime on bicycles while winding around dirt roads, homemade ice cream, (the kind where my grandma would put an old quilt over it to insulate the ice and as we all took turns turning the crank, and Grandpa and I would pour Big Red soda over our vanilla ice cream). And I remember going to feed my grandpa’s pig, Arnold; Grandpa would bring Arnold a grape Charm sucker and break the stick off so Arnold could have a sweet for dessert, lol. Now, I look forward to my vegetable garden, and when the kids were little, I loved road trips with them but I certainly do remember my son with the headset and video games he played online; he’s 24 so he probably still does! But I recently got to share my love of vegetable gardening with his new wife and now I have new things to look forward to each summer. ‘Funny how we evolve. xoxo
