I made it last week and now I’m making it again today to bring out of town to my daughter.

I have made this for years and it is a favorite with my family and friends. So east to make and the ONLY way to mess it up is to use PLAIN flour!!! As one reviewer asked “who uses self rising flour any more?” Oh, I don’t know, just about EVERYBODY!!!! I do have both actually, and keep them separate so I know the difference!! Love you, Paula! You’re the best!!!

So many people have ruined their dessert from using this recipe not recognizing they need self rising flour. Who uses self rising flour any more??? I was rushing to make this and caught the mistake in time to pull it out of the oven, scrape off the peaches and make a new batter with baking powder. On top of that, it is ridiculously sweet. Ugh, I should have know to steer clear of Paula deen.

Yes if you do not want the bread as sweet you can certainly omit a cup!

I was low on milk so I used whole buttermilk as substitute- highly recommend!

I melted the butter in a 12” cast iron skillet , poured batter in, did not stir, spooned cooked peaches in without juice then slowly spooned over the peach syrup from pan.

350 for 30 min and 350 convection for the last 6-8 min. Let the cobbler set up for 5-10 minutes.

The crust was perfectly crisp/crunchy on edges and carmelized on top with biscuit center.

Highly recommend using cast iron for this recipe

Had fresh, beautiful peaches. The biscuit part never rose to the top as a cobbler should. It stayed gooey at the bottom so I baked it a bit longer. No change! I had family for a lunch and felt bad about the poor cobbler. Next time I’ll ditch the biscuit part and just use Bisquick for the topping. Sorry!

You can substitue the same amount, 4 cups!
