I tried making this as written but it was so salty I had to throw it out. Maybe start with a couple of tablespoons and go from there. The seasonings were nice, just too much salt.

I tossed in 2 Tablespoonsof Italian seasoning and 1 Tablespoon of cumin. Gave everything a whirl in the food processor and done!

Is this what we need, or would Morton Iodized Sea Salt work? Can’t wait to make this recipe and start using it! It’s definitely a 5 star rating! Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful recipes!

I use the same 4 ingredients listed, but I use equal parts of each. I mix up a BIG batch of this and use it on everything. Sometimes, I’ll make a spicier version and use 1 c. Each of salt, garlic powder, and onion powder, and 3/4 c. Black pepper and 1/4 c. of chili de arbol or something like that. But it all started with Paula’s basic recipe.

I love all your recipes, and the only Goulash recipe I use is the one you titled Bobby’s Goulash. I must have watched a dozen video today on making “Old fashion American Goulash”, and I’m still going to use yours.

For heaven sakes, if you don’t care for a lot of salt, cut it way down. I always make my own rubs as those in the store are way, way too salty. I often use about 1/3 of what any homemade rub calls for. Try it sometime. I assume other people like more salt, or they wouldn’t be selling so many very, very salty rubs.

But I don’t like a lot of salt, so I always make my own rubs and cut the salt way down to my taste — often about 1/3 of what any rub recipe calls for. But then, with this recipe, I’ve got my own House Seasoning to use in her recipes. Add salt to your taste!!!!
