I made my own self-rising flour with flour, salt, baking powder. Found the recipe on Allrecipes.com. It would be great if a recipe for that would be with the recipe though. So far so good. They are tasty. I baked them for 9 minutes with parchment paper on the cookie sheets.

I had 4 baking sheets already set to go into the oven so it was too late to take the soft dough off and put parchment down. .It was a mess. I had to scrape many of them off and we will crush them up for ice cream topping. I suggest using parchment paper. I did that with my last 2 sheets and no problems with breakage.

She’s lost it and I have searched for it for years in cookbooks and the internet. Her’s called for buttermilk, tho’ and was chewy. Had a distinct flavor. She’d gotten it form her neighbor, whose husband was Air Force and they’d been stationed out in Oklahoma or around that area, way back in the 50’s. Would love to be able to find that recipe. Thanks so much and I have faithfully stood by you and now Phil Robertson. Love you guys so much.

Bland and a bit pasty. Won’t be making them any more..a waste of expensive pecans.

Can you also leave out the nuts (walnuts/pecans)?

But the first time I try this reciped they were really flat cookies and didn’t look very good. When I tried it the second time I added a little bit more flour (and do make sure your flour is SELF-RAISING!) and they turn out fluffy and nice!

My husband had some of his motorcycle friends over right after a ride and they were a hit! A little flatter than I thought they would turn out but great flavor and just a little crisp. Everyone here loved them

In the trash. They were to sweet and look like they didn’t cook well. This was even after I doubled the cooking time
